The MM III has many features never before offered on an underwater camera. Features that let you photograph the way you want. Create beautiful images of the underwater world with a new level of freedom and expression.
20mm f3.8 Primary Lens makes it easy to focus
Wide-angle f3.8 lens has extended depth of field, allows minimum focusing distance of 23cm (at f22) and provides spectacular wide and macro photography. With its 77 degree underwater picture angle, the Motor Marine III captures a near panoramic view of the underwater world. Close-up photography especially benefits from the extended depth of field with a sharper image and brighter color. Optional macro lens 3.5T, macro lens 2T, 15mm wide conversion lens, and fisheye lens are all bayonet mounted for easy attachment and underwater exchange. Four lens options are available for unlimited flexibility.
LCD display panel is illuminated for night diving or dark water
New LCD display gives easy to read shutter speed and film counter information to the photographer.
Two-point focusing: Takes the guesswork out of focusing
User can select either infinity setting or 0.6m setting and just press the shutter release. No more out of focus shots. Distance~infinity setting: 0.7m~infinity / 0.6m point: 0.4m - 1m (at f5.6).
Electronic Shutter Release
Synchronization (TTL external strobe triggering) is available with all shutter speeds (1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125 and 1/250). Shutter speed is indicated on the LCD display. The MMIII uses a simple and smooth dial for 6-step aperture control (f3.8, f5.6, f8, f11, f16 and f22).
TTL strobe bracketing function
The flash output can be controlled from the camera. Adjust the light level that your flash puts on the subject without affecting the background light. The flash is adjustable in TTL and manual lighting modes (Adjustment can not be increased passed full flash output). For even more creative control, add a Spot adapter used with your flash. (Sold separately).
High-performance aperture-priority AE function
Set the desired aperture for the depth of field you need and let the camera control the shutter speed. This feature takes the guesswork out of creating wide-angle images with bright backgrounds. Since the shutter speed does not affect the flash lighting, the camera will choose the correct speed to balance with the available light.
5-pin strobe connector N type adopted
This connector enables TTL photography using Sea & Sea YS-series strobes (Nikonos V-type connector, connects to all strobes except YS-25DX and YS-60TTL/S).
Target Light guarantees accurate framing
The target light turns on for 5 seconds when the shutter release is pressed half way. This feature can be disabled with an ON/OFF switch when it is not necessary.
A rugged underwater camera with depth rating of 60m/200ft
With a lighter yet stronger body than MMII-EX (depth rated at 45m/150ft), the MMIII has achieved the depth rating of 60m/200ft and its stylish design provides durability beyond previous Motor Marine models.

Pressing the shutter speed button for 2 seconds automatically turns on the aperture priority mode. If your choice of aperture is beyond the range of the film, the camera will give a warning and an aperture correction can be made up or down as needed. |
Aperture Dial
This dial was inherited from MMIII EX for ease of operation. Ergonomically designed for operation while holding the camera. Six aperture levels (f3.8, f5.6, f8, f11, f16 and f22) are selectable. |
Power Switch
The camera automatically shuts off power when not used for 30 seconds after being turned on. Power can be turned on again by half-pressing the shutter release or turning the power switch off and on. |
